Home Gym…Set it Up!

With the start of the New Year, many people are looking at ways to improve their health. One of those ways is by getting in more time at the gym. Sometimes busy schedules make it hard to fit in that time at the gym, so why not create your own in home gym!! Here are some tips on getting started!

  • Which space is best for your in home gym? Choose an area that you will use for your workouts. If you are someone who does not have an over-sized empty space in your garage, think about other big spaces in your home like your game room, flex space, or media room. You could even opt for your master bedroom as your work out space, just keep in mind whichever space you choose should be one that will give you the space needed for your workouts depending on activity or equipment you choose.

  • Which equipment or any equipment even needed? Are you someone who needs a workout machine or will free hand weights and workout video suffice? Keep it simple when starting out. When thinking of your space to work out in, think about what equipment you will be bringing in. The popular machines could quickly become the go-to place for laundry if in your master bedroom, so if using bigger equipment, maybe the game room is better. If a TV is needed, select the space with a TV that is easily visible during workouts. You can first start with minimal equipment and as you consistently workout you can reward yourself with additional equipment you want.

  • In Home Gym trendy design or one that suits your style? If you wanting a space to workout but not necessarily look like a gym…no problem! Add an ottoman that opens for easy storage of your free hand weights, workout videos, and more. If you have a larger machine, place in the corner where you can easily pull out to use and tuck back away when done. Or maybe one that folds down to tuck under your bed.

  • Spend money wisely and keep motivated!! Many people complain they waste money on their gym membership by not going. The same can be said for in home gyms if you set it up and never use it. Schedule time to get in your workouts so that over time with consistent workouts, you have more than paid for your investment. Open up blinds and keep your workout space light and bright…this too will help keep you motivated to get those workouts in. And the best part, with an in home gym you save that drive time!
