Home Trends 2018

With a New Year comes new home trends to be on the look out for! For 2018 there are several great home trends that carried over from 2017 and some that are updated. From natural woods to lavender, check out these latest and greatest home trends of 2018.

No longer is pink the “it” color, although it is still around, it has just morphed into lavender and lilac as your go-to color in 2018. Last year we saw pink as a popular color to add pops to your home and you will still see it around but look for shades of purple to also be added for that warm and trendy feel. Pinks and purples are hard for some to want to use in their decor but these colors are great accent colors that bring out beautiful, soft tones that are deeper.

Along with the “it” color, another popular trend for 2018 is using high contrast palettes. Adding in a bold color to stand out in a room, such as green, is a great way to bring out that high contrast. Green is coming back this year as it is found in nature and is timeless, so is definitely a great way to make a bold statement in any room while still complementing your desire for a cozy home. As far as home trend shapes, we will see less triangles this year as more hard geometrics like circles will start to appear more throughout the designer world. Bold patterns from a boho trend that is more casual will also be seen more in 2018 as it is also a great way to bring in the lilacs and lavenders into any room. Wallpaper especially agate designs, velvet accents, and colorful trim are also more trends we will see popping up in 2018.

When looking at finishes for your home, brass accents are making a comeback! You will see less brushed silver and more brass but while saying that, you will also see finishes mixed more often. It is becoming more trendy to mix your metals throughout  your finishes. Pairing a brushed silver light fixture with bronze door knobs is acceptable…..that is what we will see more of in homes being remodeled or updated in 2018. Gone are the days of matchy-matchy but bring in variations and have fun by mixing it up for the trendy look!

Something that has not changed much from 2017 to 2018 is tile trends. The subway tile has become a safe one to use and will continue to trend for 2018. We will also see more tiles trending to the larger format added as accent but has less grout so easier to install and maintain.

Natural materials and woven textures are where it is at!  From natural wood to other natural material like limestone, these are sure to please in any home. Look for more woven textures to appear as artisan accessories will continue to give homes an added flair. Definitely great way to mix textures when decorating your home and again bringing that cozy feeling. Natural wood furniture and even shiplap remain a trend for 2018 and would be greatly pleasing to the eye in any room. Artisan light fixtures are an added trend that we will see more of throughout homes this year as well.
