Magical Tree Lighting Ceremonies
With the Holiday season right behind Thanksgiving, many are already looking for ways to begin feeling in the Holiday spirit. This time of year many families enjoy attending tree lighting ceremonies and parades to kick off the Holiday season.

Reindeer Park and Festival at Northpark Center
When: November 23rd at Northpark Center at 10am
On Friday, November 23, gather in North Court at 10:00AM for the annual Salvation Army Angel Tree Celebration, featuring the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm and Blue Dancers and Drumline along with other special guests including Santa Claus. Then enjoy live music from holiday jazz band from 1-4pm and visit Santa’s live reindeer in Reindeer Park. More event info here.
McKinney Tree Lighting
When: November 23rd in McKinney Square at 6:15pm
On Friday, November 23, watch faces light up at 6:15 p.m. when the city lights a 34-foot Blue Spruce Christmas tree that will adorn the city’s square. Following the tree lighting, visitors can enjoy live entertainment by Asleep at the Wheel. Stay in McKinney for Home for the Holidays festivities all weekend long to enjoy family activities, food and entertainment all in McKinney’s beautifully holiday decorated historic downtown. Christmas Spectacular at the Star
When: November 23rd at The Star, Frisco at 6pm
The second annual lighting of The Star’s 52-foot Christmas tree, located on Tostitos Championship Plaza, will take place on Friday, November 23rd at 6pm. The tree lighting is a free event that will kick off the Christmas Spectacular. The Christmas Spectacular presented by Albertsons and Tom Thumb is a weekly holiday performance showcasing the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Dallas Cowboys Rhythm and Blue Dancers and Drumline, appearances by Santa, and more. The Christmas Spectacular will take place on Tostitos Championship Plaza at The Star every Friday and Saturday at 6pm, with special guests lighting the tree each night! More event info here.
Waxahachie Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting
When: November 27th on the Courthouse Lawn in Waxahachie at 6:30pm
Located approximately 30 miles outside of Dallas, Waxahachie is known for a variety of fun annual events including its Renaissance Fair and its Texas charm evident throughout the historic downtown and beautiful courthouse. You can enjoy the view of the courthouse embellished with Christmas decorations at the Christmas parade and tree lighting. The fun kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with a parade concluded by the one and only, Santa Claus who will also be there for the tree lighting ceremony. Denton Holiday Lighting Festival
When: November 30th in Downtown Denton Square at 5:30pm
Celebrate the month of December by joining thousands of locals at the Denton Holiday Lighting Festival! In addition to the magical tree lighting at 5:30 p.m., there will be live music, vendors, photos with Santa and horse-drawn carriage rides. Come ready to savor some of Denton’s best as delicious food and drinks will be available for purchase. Skip the parking and avoid festival traffic by hopping on the A-train from Medpark Station. Merry Main Street Lighting of the Tree
When: December 1st at Simpson Plaza in Frisco at 5pm
Ring in the holiday season with a beautiful tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m., some holiday treats and a LOT of shopping! One of the most unique features of Frisco’s tree lighting event is the Kids Holiday Store, where the cost per kid to shop is $12 for two gifts! No adults are allowed in this pop-up holiday shop, as kids will all be assisted by Santa’s helpers, and all gifts purchased will be wrapped on site! Prosper Christmas Festival at Frontier Park
When: December 1st at Downtown Prosper at 1:30pm
Saturday, December 1 the Rotary Club Parade begins at 1:30pm and the fun continues from 2:00-6:00pm festival-goers will find shopping, food trucks, rides, entertainment and Santa Claus. Throughout the event the community stage will be alive with performances by local children, organizations and musicians. More event info here.
Christmas on the Square in Celina
When: December 5th in Downtown Square at 5pm
On Wednesday, December 5th beginning at 5:00 pm Celebrate the Spirit of Christmas on Celina’s Historic Downtown Square. Free family-friendly activities include a Christmas train ride, an inflatable slide, bounce houses, a live reindeer display, a hayride, and much more. Bring your camera for a photo opportunity with Santa! Sip on some hot chocolate and take in the tree lighting ceremony at 7pm all while enjoying live holiday music and performances!
